John Bateman will today make his first appearance in a Wigan shirt for more than two years.

The forward, back at the club after two years at Canberra, is included in the side for their friendly at Salford (4pm kick-off).

Liam Marshall, Jai Field, Oliver Gildart, Bevan French and Jackson Hastings are absent, as expected.

Joe Burgess - who left Wigan last year - was missing from Salford's side because of an ankle injury suffered in training but ex-Warriors Morgan Escare and Jack Wells played against their former club for the first time since departing.

The Warriors' 12 man bench included four youngsters given a taste of the senior level - Alex Sutton, Matty Nicholson, Aiden Roden and Brad O'Neil.
