A shed and greenhouse were destroyed when a fire broke out on an allotment in the middle of the night.

Firefighters found the buildings well alight when they arrived at the site on Elm Street in Tyldesley at 4am on Thursday.

They spent an hour working to bring the blaze under control and managed to stop it spreading to a neighbouring plot, where there was a chicken coop.
