FOOD ALERT: Listeria threat in smoked salmon
The Essex-based Scotch Smoked Salmon Co. Ltd has recalled two of its smoked salmon products because the bacterium known as Listeria monocytogenes has been found in them.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause foodborne illness - particularly among pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, those over 60 years old, and anyone with reduced immunity.
The products affected by the recall are:
Products: Smoked Scottish Salmon and Smoked Scotch Salmon
Pack sizes: 100g, 200g and 400g
Batch code: 219ds
Date code: 14 March 2016
Anyone who has purchased either of the named products, should not consume them, instead returning them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.
