George Williams has been praised for breathing life into England's attack.

Prop Chris Hill - a fellow Wiganer - hailed the Warriors stand-off in wake of his man of the match display in a lacklustre 38-12 win against Scotland.

“I’ve been a big admirer of George for a long time,” said Hill.

“When we rolled them in the second-half, he added a bit of spark, which is what we needed.”

Williams is waiting to find out if he will retain his spot for Sunday’s clash against Australia in London.

If New Zealand beat Scotland by 41 or more on Friday, it would mean England need to beat Australia by 12 or more to secure a place in the Anfield final the following week.

A smaller points-margin will be sufficient if the Kiwis lose, draw, or win by a smaller amount.

“We have to beat the Aussies,” said Warrington prop Hill. “The points difference... it’s what we’ve done, we lost to New Zealand by a point so it’s our fault.”
