Three tries secure points

Tyldesley travelled to fifth placed Bury – who had won five of their previous eight league games – and came away with another three hard earned points, after a massively improved second half performance.

The hosts dominated the first half through some very strong forward play but Tyldesley defended superbly via Aspinall, Donegan, Monks, Mennell and Taylor. A rare visit into the home side’s half resulted in a converted penalty from Griffiths in the 27th minute. Half time 3-0.

Tyldesley, impressively turned it around during the second period, despite Monks receiving a yellow card in 35th minute, as they started to move the ball away from the big and dominant Bury pack.

In the 43rd minute Lloyd slipped a superb inside ball for Prendergast to go over untouched under the sticks for a great converted try.

More superb approach work and Prendergast beat many a defender for a superb individual try at the side of the sticks, Griffiths added the extra two.

By now the visitors were in a rich vein of form, that resulted in another superb team try in the 54th minute, from winger Kelly crossing, on debut, under the posts, Griffiths converted.

With 16 minutes remaining, Bury threw everything at Bongs, but could manage only a harsh penalty try in the 62nd minute.

Tries: Prendergast 2, Kelly. Conversion: Griffiths 3. Penalty: Griffiths 1. Top Tackler: backs – Guest; forwards – Weaver. Men of the Match: backs – Unsworth; forwards – Prendergast.
