THE Colts continued their unbeaten run, with a double over Eccles in the top-of-the-table clash at Round Ash Park.
In a very tight first half it was Eccles who took the lead with a try on the 25th minute but were unable to convert. Top class defending by Leigh kept the score to 0-5 at half time. After the restart Leigh used the strong wind at their backs to gain field position, and on 51 mins came the try of the game as Rob Drake side-stepped his way past four would-be tacklers to go under the posts, he added the conversion to give Leigh the lead 7-5 . The next score again went to Leigh, as the ever improving Matty Wilkinson went over in the corner on 60 mins, converted by Rob Drake. Eccles’ pressure was rewarded with a well taken try, that went unconverted. Leigh kicked for field position, deep into Eccles territory and good pressure forced a knock on by Eccles and this was the last play of the game as the youthful ref, who also had a good game, blew for full time. A great team effort from Leigh Jnr Colts to extend their lead at the top of Raging Bull C league.
