Double header to open season

Astley & Tyldesley will stage their opening cycle speedway match of the 2012 season at the Gin Pit Raceway on Sunday, March 25.

The club has re-entered the Northern Combination League and will be staging a double header meeting, taking on Hull at 2 pm, followed by Sheffield Phantoms at 3.30 pm.

A & T welcome back several returning riders to provide experience to the squad in Martin Phillips, Roy Heslop, Beccy Heslop and Ron Makin. These will team up with the older junior riders in Sacha Street, Joel Partington, Adam Phillips and Reece Pollitt.

The club’s younger end have impressed in pre-season training and Stefan Whitelegg, Daniel Burns, Max Evans, Tom Whitwam and Matt Snell will be valuable members of the A & T squad this season.

Spectators are welcome at the opening race meeting, with a good range of facilities available.

The track is located at the Astley & Tyldesley Miners’ Welfare Club, Meanley Road, Gin Pit, Tyldesley, M29 7DW.
