The imagery used in the artwork reflects Orrell’s rich industrial, architectural and cultural heritage and is based on children’s drawings from the three Orrell schools following a visit to the Museum of Wigan Life’s archives.
Three display boards on the platform at Orrell Station show some of the children’s drawings.
The installation includes depictions of Orrell Post, a rugby ball, nods to the bolt and nail making industries, spinning mills, coal mines, Orrell water park and the town’s schools.
