Police hunt after mirrors smashed

The CCTV still showing the man suspected of vandalising cars in Atherton

A VANDAL who targeted parked cars in Atherton is being hunted by police.

The wing view mirrors of a black Renault Clio and a Citreon Saxo were smashed when they were parked in the Liscard Street area between 2am and 11.30am on December 16.

Police have now issued a CCTV still of the suspected offender and are appealing to anyone who recognises him to come forward.

It is not known if the vandal struck anywhere else.

Police Sergeant Darren Agnew said: “Whomever is responsible for this mindless vandalism should be ashamed of themselves.

“They clearly have no regard for anyone else’s property. As well as the financial hardship it has caused the victims, there is also the added stress of sorting out repairs and rearranging work and home commitments. This was obviously of no concern to the offender.

“I would ask that people look very carefully at the CCTV still and if you suspect who may be involved, then please call us immediately.

“We do not know if this man targeted any other cars that night but if your vehicle was vandalised in any way on that evening, then please let us know.” Anyone with information is asked to call the Atherton Neighbourhood Policing Team on 0161 856 7319, email Atherton.apt@gmp.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
