A MAN who was stabbed four times in his home by an intruder who stole his wallet has died.
The attack happened at around 5.30pm on August 25 at a house on Diamond Street in Leigh.
A man forced his way into the house, stabbed the victim, Steven Butterworth four times and stole his wallet.
He was taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary where he sadly died last night, Friday 27 September 2013.
A Home Office post mortem will be carried out later today to establish the cause of death.
Detective Chief Inspector Howard Millington who is leading the investigation said: “Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the relatives and friends of Mr Butterworth who are clearly devastated by his death.
“This in now a murder investigation and although someone has been charged with offences in relation to this matter we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have any information about the incident.”
