A MAN has been jailed for defrauding people out of over £150,000

Simon Hayes, 49, of Henrietta Street, Leigh pleaded guilty of fraud at Liverpool Crown Court on 13 February 2014.

Between January 2001 and June 2013, Hayes approached his victims either at their homes or in car parks of retail stores, claiming he would be able to get them white or electrical goods.

Money was exchanged but the items never arrived.

There were also occasions when Hayes would ask his victims - who he knew - for money he needed to start a business or buy land. He never paid the cash back.
