A MAN who was accused of killing his partner has admitted murder at a court hearing today.

Michael Cope, 28, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to murder and three counts of ABH, at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square.

Sentencing will take place tomorrow.

Linzi Ashton was assaulted on May 18 and on May 20 they received a report she had been raped on April 29 of this year.

The mother-of-two, was found dead at her home in Winton by relatives on June 29. She died of pressure to the neck and multiple injuries.

Cope went on the run and he was caught on CCTV cameras buying food in a Hindley convenience store in July.

He was then arrested after police received a call that he was at a house at Larch Road, Leigh.
