A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis following a fire at a house in Aspull.
Firefighters were called to the address on St Elizabeth’s Road just after midnight on Thursday.
Crews from Wigan and Hindley found the inside roof space of the semi-detached property ablaze and flames spreading to the house next door, which forced a young woman and child to evacuate their home.
Firefighters and officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) discovered a cannabis farm in one of the bedrooms and the occupant of the house was taken into custody for questioning.
Investigation teams visited the scene on Thursday morning.
