A woman who failed to notify the DWP that her circumstances had changed and thus got more carers’ allowance than she was entitled to has been handed a community order.

Dawn Baldwin, 51, of Norwood Avenue, Ashton, appeared before Wigan magistrates to admit one charge of benefit fraud.

She was ordered to carry out 200 hours’ unpaid work and pay costs and a surcharge totalling £170.
