A community order has been handed down to a man who breached a conditional discharge by making a menacing phone call to a police officer.

Nigel Ewens, 40, of Crossdale Road in Hindley Green, appeared in the dock before Wigan and Leigh magistrates to plead guilty to making a threatening or abusing call to a PS Hall on September 20.

This put him in breach of a two-year discharge issued by Medway magistrates in March 2019 for assaulting a man in Gravesend, Kent, in January of that year.

The Wigan bench put him on a course for alcohol abusers, ordered that he complete 20 days of rehabilitation activities and pay a fine, court costs and a victim services surcharge totalling £300.
