A suspected fugitive hit-and-run driver gave a breath test more than five times over the legal alcohol limit, police say.
Greater Manchester traffic officers say a truck ran a red light on the East Lancashire Road on May 30, colliding with another vehicle.
Instead of stopping, it drove off, but police tracked it down and the motorist allegedly gave a reading of 178 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 35.
A spokesman said: “Driver arrested and currently awaiting charge while he sobers up.”
