IN their teens friends Francis Bliss, David Withington and Michael Ashcroft lived their rock 'n' roll lifestyles to the full.
They maybe older, and also a little wiser, but their love for classic rock has only grown stronger encouraging them to set up their own rock disco.
The trio are staging a club night at Leigh Conservative Club, Railway Road, on Saturday April 19 and are hoping that fellow fans of monster riffs, shuddering bass licks and explosive drum solos will come out of force.
Francis, 45, said: "The idea came about when the three of us got together and started chatting about the songs that we always used to enjoy listening to in pubs and clubs, but never hear when we go out anymore.
"Those songs meant so much to us growing up, and still do, so we decided to start our own night for people who love the same music as us."
Classics from Led Zeppelin, Kiss and Deep Purple will be played at this month's rock disco which will be celebrating the best UK and US rock acts of the 70s, 80s and 90s.
Francis, from Carrington Grove, Leigh, said: "We are hoping it will be a very nostalgic affair.
"Many years ago we had the Peppers rock night; we hope to recreate that feel for 2008.
"It should be a cracking night for all those who loved the music of the last few decades, and even some of the younger crowd who take an interest in the bands who have gone on to influence some of the modern greats.
"We want to give rock fans living in Leigh something to look forward to."
Tickets for the event, which will be sold on the door, will cost £3 and there will be a licensed bar.
Couples will be able to buy a joint ticket for £5.
The evening will begin at 7.30pm and end at 12pm.
