A Tyldesley theatre group scooped a record-breaking 10 nominations from a prestigious drama authority.
Three of Tyldesley Little Theatre's last six shows, along with the theatre as a whole, were honoured on a night that when they received the nominations at Greater Manchester Drama Federation's annual awards night at the Longfield Suite, Prestwich.
It was a great evening for 'Third Week in August', as Ian Hunter received a nomination for Best Actor for his highly comic performance as Neville and Jenny Whur was nominated as Best Director.
The show also picked up prestigious nominations for Best Production and Best Production Runner Up.
This accolade placed Tyldesley's show as one of the top four in Section A of the GMDF – in competition with shows from all over the region! And this was the third time in five years that TLT has been rated so highly by the GMDF!
The opening show of last season, 'Sky's the Limit', directed by Ian Taylor, was also in the limelight, garnering three nominations – a special achievement for a local play, long out of print and revived by TLT to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its premiere performance.
Paul Beardsworth was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his lovable portrayal of Peter and Abby Dawson received a nomination for Best Youth actress for her role as Willy, the apprentice decorator.
Abby actually won a Certificate of Promise Award for her work – a truly remarkable achievement for her first ever principal role.

The latest pantomime, 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves', directed by Ian Taylor, reached the top four for 'Best Costume' and was also nominated for Best Pantomime – the third time that TLT has been honoured in this way during the last four years!
And the popular local society's hard working front of house team was recognised once more – receiving a nomination for the David Lane Trophy for Front of House Management for the second consecutive year.
A special mention also went to the standard of Tyldesley Little Theatre's programme notes.
Each nomination means that TLT are considered to be within the best four of the entire section.
These honours are proudly added to TLT's first result of the year – a Big Thank You certificate awarded by Wigan Council for artistic services to the local community.
