AN HILARIOUS play penned by motormouth comedian Ben Elton is to be given the Tyldesley Little Theatre (TLT) treatment.
The hugely popular amateur dramatics group plans to end another successful season with an extra show and they have chosen Elton's Silly Cow.
It was selected as an additional production outside of TLT's usual season due to the adult language and themes which might not be considered suitable family entertainment.
TLT's Ian Taylor said: "The show certainly contains all the staples – a great cast, talented direction and lots and lots of laughs!
"Silly Cow is the second hilarious play written by Elton. Andrea Peters plays a tough tabloid columnist who is about to have the tables turned on her in humiliating fashion.
"Cast members include Julia Houghton, Ian Hunter and Paul and Denis Beardsworth.
"As well as appearing on stage, Paul Beardsworth directs his second TLT show following the successful 'The Late Mrs Early' in 2004, which was nominated by the GMDF for 'Best Design and Technical'."
There are exciting developments taking place behind the scenes at TLT too, with members planning for a busy summer break thanks after receiving a substantial grant from Viridor Credits.
The money will be used to cover the costs of refurbishing the gents' toilets, repairing a leaking roof, redecorating the foyer, replacing stage backcloths and upgrading technical equipment.
Most of the work is scheduled for this summer once the last production of the season has run its course.
Silly Cow runs from May 28 to May 30. Tickets are available from the box office on 01204 655619 or 01942 886908, or via the website: www.tlt.org.uk
