Pure Lancastrian farce is the latest offering from a Tyldesley theatre group.
Tyldesley Little Theatre will be playing it for laughs, laughs and more laughs from March 24 to 28 when they proudly present Pull the Other One by Norman Robbins, one of the popular, award-winning theatre's most oft-used playwrights.
Directed by Ian Taylor, the show mixes a wicked mother-in-law, hen-pecked husband, mysterious letters, a sexy young art student and lots of mix-ups and misunderstandings.
It's the sort of show that TLT has made successful for decades – good old-fashioned laughs galore!
Award-nominated TLT regular Paul Beardsworth plays Albert Perkins a hapless hero who is blessed with a loving wife, Muriel (Kaye Taylor) and cursed with a fearsome mother-in-law, Boadicea (Winnie Beatty).
When an old friend named Hilary writes to him reminiscing about the good times they used to have, Boadicea reads the letter and determines to remove her daughter instantly from the clutches of this evil philanderer. Albert has a hard time explaining himself and the truth is far more ridiculous than any lies could ever be!
Set in 1970s North West England, this is not so much a Carry On comedy as a 'Corrie' on comedy!
Director Ian Taylor has been directing for TLT for 17 years. His shows or casts either won or were nominated for awards over six consecutive seasons between 2001-2007.
Tickets for 'Pull the Other One' are available from the usual Box Office number: 01204 655619 or 01942 886908, or via the website: www.tlt.org.uk
