A top Leigh theatre group is preparing a spooky start to its new season.
St Joseph's Players' choice of autumnal plays promises to complement the season's chilly and bleak season to perfection with productions of The Ghost Train and The Cemetery Club.
Pauline Nevell will be making her directorial debut with The Ghost Train while the experienced Doreen Johnson takes on The Cemetery Club, the bittersweet tale of three middle-aged widows.
Arnold Ridley, best known for his portrayal of the genial Private Godfrey in the 1970s sitcom Dad's Army, penned the Players' October play Ghost Train.
It is set in the waiting room at a remote Cornish train station where a party of travellers are left stranded before learning of a local superstition about a phantom steam train.
Ghost Train runs from Tuesday, October 7 to Saturday, October 11 at St Joseph's Hall on Chapel Street, curtain-up is at 7.30pm.
And The Cemetery Club runs from Tuesday September 9 to Saturday September 13.
Tickets are available from 'Bang Bang' (formerly Boardmans) in Bradshawgate, Leigh , or pay on the door.
