A MORRIS dancing group in Leigh is looking for sponsors to help fund their competitions.
Leigh Zodiacs morris dancers held a sponsored six-hour dance-athon and has taken part in many other activities to raise money for the club.
The club has recently bought new dresses for the girls, which cost around £2,000, and need to hire buses for competitions, which costs around £300 each time.

The club has 56 members - aged three to 28 – who train at St Paul's Social Club, Westleigh – who pay £3 a session, but the club still needs help to raise funds.

Elaine Sutton, who runs the Leigh Zodiacs, said: "The more we can raise, the quicker we can get the bank balance up. We have been together seven years and probably every year we contact about 30 or 40 businesses.
"Every week in the papers, there are football clubs getting sponsors. Morris dancers don't get a look in. We just don't get recognised - it's a sport. We meet once or twice a week and go to competitions.
"The kids do enjoy it. They love it when we win – we are quite a good winning troupe."

If you would like to sponsor Leigh Zodiacs or give a donation, contact Elaine on 01942 261196 or 07980 938354.
