MUSICIANS from Leigh are being invited to 'do a Jack Black' and work for a real life School of Rock.
Chris Sudworth, of Church Lane, Lowton, is offering local musicians the rare chance of a job teaching pop music to youngsters aged seven to 17.
Along with wife Debbie, the 35-year-old has set up a franchise of Clive's Easylearn Pop Music Schools at the Church Lane Community Centre, Lowton.
It is one of a string of similar schools opening across the UK offering simplified pop and rock music training in guitar, bass, keyboards and drums.
The weekly sessions also enable customers to experience 'jamming' together in pop and rock bands right from the very start of their courses.
Chris said: "I've lived in the area for many years and know that the place is teeming with great musical talent, but opportunities to earn money in rock and pop have always been pretty much non-existent until now.
"I want to change all that and give our local musicians the unusual chance to supplement their incomes doing something that they will really enjoy for a change."
Tutors wanted
He is keen to encourage local musicians to come forward to be trained as tutors in the new school, which operates on Saturdays, and no previous teaching experience is necessary.
Free taster sessions will be available to the public at the Lowton community centre on Saturday, May 2, from 3pm.
The Lowton school will officially open on Saturday, May 9, and potential tutors can apply online at www.clivesmusic.com
A new Pop Music School is also opening at The Grange Community Complex in Marus Bridge, Wigan.
