A former Big Brother housemate has put £10,000 of his own money up for the grabs to the winner of a spectacular wrestling match organised by a Leigh wrestling group this week.
Luke Marsden has pledged the cash for the over the top rope Battle Royal special which is the main feature of the Garage Pro Wrestling (GPW) show at Hindley's Monaco Ballroom on Friday (June 19).
Luke, 21, who before reality TV fame was GPW's regular ring announcer, re-appeared for the UK's leading wrestling promotion at the start of the year.
That appearance wasn't well received by the fans. Since moving out of the Wigan area many local people have looked upon Luke unfavourably, but he has vowed to get back into the good books of the folk in his home town by giving away some of his own money.
There are 10 names competing for the £10k prize where the winner will also receive a heavyweight title shot that same evening.
One of the men hoping to win is Hindley's Martin Kirby who defeated former WWE superstar 'Hurricane' John Walters last month in order to qualify in the final 10. He said: "Last month, I surprised myself. Beating Walters was most certainly one of the my biggest career wins so far and it has led me on to the chance of competing for not only a heavyweight title shot, but £10k too!"
Other names with a chance at the money and the title are: Ricky J McKenzie, Si Valour, Dirk Feelgood, Bubblegum, Juice, Danny Hope, Chris Echo, Jiggy Walker and more!
Last month GPW mainstays, Leigh's Joey Hayes and Heresy, flew out to Germany on a month-long tour of the country and to set up a brand new training facility for GPW in Stuttgart, making the wrestling organisation international.
The facility will provide an opportunity for UK talent to go on European tours and for European wrestlers to be taught by GPW coaching staff.
In addition to the 10 Man £10k, both the men responsible for setting up the school will square off one-on-one on June 19 in an intriguing singles match. The evening will also see the coveted British title be defended when reigning champion 'Super' Sam Bailey takes on challenger William Gáylord.
A raffle will be drawn and there'll be prizes to be won all night long.
Tickets are £7 per person or £24 for a family of four, doors open at 7pm and the show will start at 7:30pm. Call 07703 312 146 or e-mail gpwrichardnoble @yahoo.co.uk to reserve tickets.
