A teenager has become the second Wigan victim in a week to die after an off-road bike crash.
Nathan Lightfoot lost his seven-day battle for life, having suffered a serious head injury on Ashton Heath on Wednesday last week.

The 17-year-old's death in Salford's Hope Hospital came just two days after 27-year-old Lowton father John Scotson was killed when the motorbike he and a friend were riding crashed into a barrier at Pennington Country Park, Leigh.

His friend James Glover, 23, from St Helens, suffered facial injuries and a fractured head and leg, and is being treated at Wigan Infirmary.

It is believed to have taken some time for the emergency services to locate the two casualties in the park late at night and by the time they were found, Mr Scotson, of Newton Road, Lowton, had died. The pair had been trialling a 250cc Yamaha scrambler.

Nathan Lightfoot had been riding a 125cc moped belonging to a friend outside the Eagle and Child pub on Heath Road, Ashton when he lost control and fell off.
