Hundreds of women took part in Leigh's Race for Life.
The sun came out to greet the runners at Pennington Flash for a perfect day which raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
Among the runner was Heather Parker, running in memory of her mum Georgina.
Heather, a Leigh Centurions community development coach of Organ Street in Leigh, said: "At one point we all said that it was like a big celebration of her life.
"It made me really proud to see everyone coming out for mum.
"The run went really well and I did it with mum's best friend Marjorie
Kettle and Kathryn Longworth."
Grandma Georgina, who lived in Abram, was diagnosed with bowel cancer shortly after returning from holiday on February 26 and sadly died just five weeks later.
Daughter Heather has already raised a £480 in her memory and is planning to make the run in her mum's honour an annual event.
Jayne Leggat, of Cancer Research UK, said: "It was a fantastic day and the weather stayed good. Congratulations to everyone who took part.
"We hope people will remember to send in the sponsorship money - without it we wouldn't be able to fund the teams of doctors and scientists who are working so hard to beat cancer."
