POLICE are hunting a man who sexually assaulted a woman following a night out in Leigh.
Shortly before 2am on Saturday September 13, the 28-year-old victim left the Pulp nightclub, in the town centre, with two friends.

The trio walked down King Street before the victim walked off alone along Hilden Street. As she was texting on her p
hone she was approached by a man who began talking to her.

The victim asked the offender to go away before he attacked her, forcing her to the floor and sexually assaulting her.

The man, described as black, in his 40s, 5ft 10in tall, of stocky build with short black hair, a round face and who spoke with a Midlands accent, then jumped over a wall at the rear of Hilden Street

Police Constable Chris Smith from Leigh Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "The victim had been out enjoying herself and was making her way home when she was subjected to a frightening sexual assault.

"The offender used his physical presence to overpower and attack the victim and he must be caught.

"I would appeal to anyone who may recognise the description of the offender or who may have been in the area at the time of the attack to come forward."

Anyone with any information is asked to call Wigan CID on 0161 856 5307 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
