Police clear sex attackA 32-year-old man arrested and bailed on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old has been eliminated from inquiries.
The man was arrested following the assault that took place at about 3am on Sunday, August 3 on Wigan Road in Leigh.

The victim was walking from Barbarellas nightclub when she noticed a man walking behind her.
The woman was on the phone to her c
ousin at the time, but engaged in conversation with the man.

The man then spoke to the woman's cousin and promised that he would make sure the woman got home safely.
When the pair reached a path next to the old Post Office, the man pushed the woman towards the path entrance, causing her to fall. He then sexually assaulted her.

During the assault, the victim's phone rang when she slid the phone open to answer and screamed for help, the man ran off.
The man is described as white, between 23 and 30 years old, 5ft 9in tall, medium build, with short blond hair and big ears. He was wearing a blue and white short sleeved checked shirt.

Detective Sergeant Clare Devlin said: "The fact that we have spoken to and eliminated someone shows we are actually moving in the right direction.
"We still believe that the suspect lives locally, and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen him walking down Wigan Road at the time to get in touch.
"Young women are always reminded to walk home in groups and stay on busy, well-lit roads."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5307 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
