A Hindley Green shoe-a-holic has won first prize in the Wigan and Leigh Hospice 'Bumper Silver Anniversary' draw.
With more than 70 pairs of shoes and numerous handbags already in her wardrobes, Paula Speakman (pictured right) was thrilled to scoop the £2,500 prize.

Paula, a nursery nurse at St John's CE Primary School, says the hospice will benefit from her win because she always sends loads of shoes and bags as donations, sometimes with the labels still on.

Married with two children, Paula said: "I never expected to win anything, let alone the first prize. It's amazing."
The hospice ran the draw as part of their Silver Anniversary Celebrations and Lottery Manager John Cowen is delighted at the £38,000 it has raised.

John said: "We're thrilled at the response and support the public have shown to our special draw, but I would like to remind everyone that we have a Lottery every week, where some lucky person always wins £1,000 and many more win smaller amounts – with no roll-over,"

To join just ring the hospice on 01942 525566 during office hours, or email lottery@wlh.org.uk
