Athletes and fund-raisers pulled on their trainers for Leigh's first 10k race and fun run.
Hundreds of runners took part in the Legacy 10k race and fun run event at Leigh Sports Village (LSV) on Sunday to raise cash for more than 50 local sports clubs and charities.
Organiser Neil Gamewell, from Active Synergy, said: "The day was a massive success and there was a really big event atmosphere.
"In total, there were 52 different good causes including local sports clubs, charities, and hospices.
"It's the first time the event has been held and plans are already in place for its return next year."
Active Synergy, a sports event management group, teamed up with charity website Everyday Hero to organise the event in partnership with the sports village and Leigh Harriers Athletics Club.
The race started and finished at LSV and included a scenic route around Pennington Flash Country Park.
Warrington Wolves and former Leigh player Micky Higham and his wife Kate took part in the race to raise money for Steps, a charity which supports children with lower limb deformities.
Their five-year-old son, Harry, was born with club foot, where one foot grows inward.
Simon Ellis, co-founder of Astley and Tyldesley Junior Football Club, ran to fund improvements to their home ground at Gin Pit Village, Astley, after the club was forced to travel across the borough to play many of their games.
And Leigh Genesis commercial manager Andy Walsh swapped the football field for the running track to help fund improvements to the club's new home at Crilly Park, in Atherton.
Simon Hampson, coach at Hindsford Junior Football Club, encouraged young footballers to take part in the race as he aims to start up a new under 16s team where local youngsters can play free of charge.
