A 21-year-old man is still fighting for his life in Wigan Infirmary after an horrific crash on a notorious road in Hindley in the early hours of the morning on Saturday.
The driver, believed to be from Westhoughton, is in a critical condition after his Citroen Saxo smashed into the garden wall of a house on Atherton Road.

The road has claimed the lives of several people over the past few years and local resident
s have long been demanding action.
The vehicle appears to have been travelling towards Wigan when it ploughed into the wall at around 5.45am on Saturday morning, completely destroying the front end of the car.

Bricks and debris from the demolished wall were flung through the window of a neighbouring terraced house and missiles smashed a concrete planter two gardens down from the point of the car's impact.

Margaret Powers, who lives across the road from the scene, said: "I heard a bang and looked out of the window and it was absolutely terrible.
''The driver was lying on the pavement.
"I think he must have been thrown out of the car because I couldn't see anyone around who could have helped him get out.
"I rang the ambulance straight away and they were here in minutes."

Firecrews from Atherton and Hindley were called to the scene and Atherton Road remained cordoned off more than four hours after the incident.
Mrs Powers says several residents recently expressed concerns about the speed of cars on the stretch of Atherton Road where the accident occured.
