There will be plenty of opportunities to hike off those Christmas excesses following the release of the latest series of Wigan's Walks for Health.
Led by Wigan Leisure Culture Trust Active Living staff, volunteers, Park rangers, Lancashire Wildlife Trust and the Forestry Commission, the walks are ideal for people who want to improve their general health and wellbeing and are great for people of all ages to take up walking in a safe and sociable atmosphere.

The walks last for about one hour unless otherwise stated and may not all be wheelchair-friendly. Check the number below for further details.

Monday January 4 – Pennington Flash, Leigh. Meet at 11am, portable cabin by Rangers Hut, main car park (small charge), St Helens Road, Leigh. Bus route: 600, 34 from Leigh Bus Station

Friday January 8 – Nature Walk, Windy Bank Wood, Culcheth. Meet at 11am, Bents Garden Centre, Culcheth. Bus route: 28 and 19 from Leigh Bus Station. Duration: 90 minutes.
