A TEN-year-old girl's quick-thinking saved her home from being burnt down after a small bedroom fire in Tyldesley.
The girl ran to a neighbour's house in Lynton Road at 5am on Friday when a mattress in a bedroom upstairs had set on fire.

The neighbour alerted Atherton fire station, but the female occupier of the house, believed to be in her 20s, had put the fire out with water.

The woman was taken to hospital with minor burns and smoke inhalation.

It is believed the fire, which damaged the mattress and bedding, was caused by a set of tea-lights.

A spokesperson for Atherton fire service said: "The young girl did really well.
''If it wasn't for her quick thinking to call the fire brigade it could have been a lot worse.
''There weren't any smoke alarms so they were very lucky."
