STAFF were threatened at gun point during an armed robbery at a Leigh betting shop.
A man, brandishing a handgun, burst into Coral Bookmakers on Firs Lane during the early evening and demanded money.
The incident occurred at around 7.25pm on Saturday April 19, but police have only just released details.
They are appealing for witn
esses and anyone with any information about the incident or the possible identity of the robber to contact them.
After holding up the bookies the offender fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash. He ran towards Plank Lane.
He was white, 20-30 years old and was wearing dark clothing
DC Barrie Murphy from Wigan CID said: "We believe this man may have been in the area prior to the robbery and I would appeal to anyone that may have seen a man acting suspiciously in the hours and minutes before the incident to contact police.
"It is completely unacceptable for anyone to think they can get away with this type of crime and I would encourage people in the community to come forward and speak to police so we can put this offender, and others, behind bars."
•Call Wigan CID on 0161 856 5307 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
