AN Atherton couple married in Las Vegas ... dressed as their favourite superheroes.
Superman and Wonderwoman, aka Phil Robinson, 37, and Louse Smith, 35, were married by Elvis at the Little Chapel of Flowers (pictured above) before they raced down the Vegas Strip in a black convertible mustang.
Phil said: "Louise had always dreamed
of getting married dressed as Wonderwoman and as both of us had been married before and done the top hat and tails thing so this time we just decided to do something out of the ordinary which would be a good day and a good laugh without any pressure.
"I already had a Superman costume and suggested we do it in Vegas. The whole day was fantastic Elvis sang three songs including "Viva Las Vegas", of course, "It's Now or Never" and "Love Me Tender"."
With their unlikely wedding outfits and a best man also sporting a Superman suit the traffic stopped and the people gawked as the couple, who are both civil servants, arrived at the chapel and its proprietor said they were the best costumes they had seen in the chapel's 40 year history.
The couple who have three children between them, Benjamin, 13, Jacob, six and Ella, five got engaged after Phil proposed in front of the Trevi fountain in Rome.
But while only a few friends were able to join them on their special day, an internet camera, discreetly hidden inside the chapel, meant more family and friends back in Atherton could watch Wonderwoman walk gracefully down the aisle to her Superman.
The couple will now hold a fancy dress reception in Atherton for family and friends.
