Help to boost community

ANYONE who wants to try and help bring communities together and create new events to boost the town are being asked to attend the next meeting of the Golborne Village Committee.

The group, whose members including representatives from the the Scouting movement, supermarket community teams, schools and ward councillors, has already successfully organised the Christmas lights switch-on in Kane Square and a Christmas Fete at Golborne Community School, and is now looking for more ideas for events in 2013.

The village committee will meet in Golborne Library, on on January 10, starting at 6pm.

Meanwhile police will be monitoring drivers on Kenyon Lane and Newton Road after speed traps were deployed to try and catch motorists travelling over the limits after complaints about driving in the area were made to neighbourhood associations by residents.
