Members of Culcheth Players preparing for the pantomime

HE’S behind you!

Culcheth Players are looking for people who are keen to tread the boards or help out behind the scenes ahead of their new family pantomime.

The company is bringing the classic tale of Jack and the Beanstalk to dramatic life in the latest production at the Players’ 200-seat auditorium at the Culcheth Sports club (Daten), on Charnock Road.

The production will take place in February, and the company is keen to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in the world of amateur dramatics to attend the weekly meetings.

Publicity officer David McManus said: “We’ve been getting a little bit down on numbers with people moving away from the area, so we’re hoping to get a few new people to join us.

“Jack and the Beanstalk has quite a lot of roles and it’s a light-hearted, family production, so there’s plenty of opportunities to get involved.

“If people don’t fancy acting we have roles in things like set building, promotion, stage management and designing.

“We’re also looking to do more publicity because I think quite a few people in the area still don’t know who we are.”

The Culcheth Players will also team up for the pantomime, which is being directed by chairman Steve Beech, with pupils from the Rosemary Powell Dance School.

The pantomime follows the Culcheth Players’ performances of Hi-De-Hi and Treasure Island this year.

The group meets on Mondays from 8pm to 10pm at Culcheth Sports Club.
