Leigh Centurions Football Manager, Darren Shaw has resigned from the club.
Now the club is searching for a new Head Coach to help continue the development of highly rated assistant, Paul Rowley as the Centuriosn look for a good season to press their Super League claims.
The title of Shaw's appointment was always something
of a vague remit, but to all intent and purpose he was the Head Coach with Rowley his assistant. The club released a statement on Monday afternoon, announcing Shaw's immediate departure for personal reasons and the fact that Paul Rowley did not want to take on the head Coach position permanently.
That set the club looking for Shaw's successor, and although Chief Executive Alan Rowley was not available for comment, it would seem there has already been a considerable amount of interest, with former Widnes Vikings and Welsh National Coach Neil Kelly throwing his hat t in the ring, whilst ex-Salford City Reds and England Coach, Karl Harrison is also certain to be interest in this position.
Leigh Chairman Arthur Thomas paid this compliment to Darren Shaw. " Darren has done a good job here at Leigh, despite a couple of results going against us this year." he said.
"We are dogged with injuries at the moment which doesn't help but Darren along with Gary Eccleston has set up an infrastructure within the club which will bear the fruits in the future.
"He has a great work ethic doing 50+ hours a week and deserved better results than he has been credited with. Everyone at Leigh Centurions wishes Darren and his family all the best for the future".
Meanwhile Leigh's disappointing result at Featherstone Rovers has turned into something of a mini disaster ahead of next Sunday's difficult trip to take on Sheffield Eagles.
Nathan McAvoy dislocated a kneed cap in the 15th minute of the game, and although he was operated upon on Sunday night he know seems to be out for the season.
